Plasma Path specs
Setup notes and briefing numbers for Plasma Path.
Plate size and table limits
Plasma Path specs put the plasma cell into measurable terms, from sheet size and table requirements to extraction, consumables and cut quality targets. Use it when the job needs a proper technical brief rather than a general overview.
Plasma Path specs records the sheet envelope, table bed dimensions, rail travel and usable pierce area before a cell is signed off for production. It also fixes the material range, from thin mild steel to heavier plate, with target thickness bands, expected kerf width and the edge condition required after cutting in South African shop conditions.
The spec pack includes torch height settings, consumable references, gas requirements and extraction figures that operators can check at the machine. Another page covers daily inspection points such as earthing, slat wear, air dryness and lead condition, so the cell can be restarted without guessing after a stop or power interruption.
What the spec sheet captures
Each Plasma Path document sets out measurable items, including plate format, power source capacity, gantry clearance, nesting constraints and acceptable dross levels. It also names the tooling arrangement properly so procurement, maintenance and production are all working from the same technical brief.
Use the page alongside the linked Hub notes when a plasma cell must be defined in exact terms rather than general sales language.
- Sheet size, travel and torch reach
- Consumables, gas and cut tolerance
Workshop conditions that change settings
Humidity near Durban, dust on the Highveld and unstable power all shift how a plasma table should be specified and maintained. Older buildings may also limit extraction duct runs, compressor placement and cable routing, which is why site conditions belong in the first draft of the spec.
Consumable life changes when compressed air quality drops or when fine dust reaches the rails and sensors. Plate handling space matters too, especially where forklift turning room, crane access or stack height will affect how full sheets are loaded and how cut parts are removed safely.

Cut quality targets and tolerances
Send the plate type, normal thickness range, maximum sheet size and the cut standard expected on finished parts. Include any recurring problem such as bevel, heavy dross, poor pierce starts or fume extraction that cannot keep up with the current workload.
Keep the finished specification with the machine record, consumables list and maintenance notes for that cell. Buyers, programmers and service technicians need the numbers, limits and checks in one place.
